In a surprising move, England Cricket Board (ECB) has decided to curb the decision-making power of newly appointed coach Peter Moores.
This has come into the fray after the Schofield committee, appointed by ECB straight after the thumping defeats against Australia in the recently concluded Ashes series came to the conclusion that for the better performance of the team, coaching rights should be curtailed.
Committee features former England captain Nasser Hussain, former England players Nick Knight, Angus Fraser, Hugh Morris, Mickey Stewart and Brian Rose and former European golf tour boss Ken Schofield.
Recommendation of Schofield committee will mean that Moores will get less decision-making powers as compared to the former coach Duncan Fletcher. In addition, on the away tour the coach will no longer fulfill the role of team manager, chief selector and coach. Those sorts of roles will now be split between the coach and other people appointed by the ECB.
